On the other hand, two players clearly locked into starting roles are Marvin Jones Jr. and Kenny Golladay, but both have something to prove heading into 2019.For Jones, the first goal is staying healthy, as his 2018 season was cut short after nine games thanks to a knee injury. He was on pace for 62 catches, 900 yards and nine touchdowns, which was close to his output in 2017 Levine Toilolo Jersey White , in what was perhaps the most productive of his seven-year career.Meanwhile, Golladay is soaring into his third season after a 70-catch, five-touchdown campaign. Expectations are high for the third-year receiver, and he is looking to be worth every ounce of draft capital the Lions chose to spend on him. Both players are vital to the offense and need to have big seasons, and while each can contribute in different ways, do not be surprised if one takes a larger piece of the pie. Today’s Question of the Day is: Which receiver will emerge as the top option in 2019?My answer: Matthew Stafford seems comfortable feeding multiple receiving options, but this is primed to be the season Golladay really takes over. Jones is still a great deep-ball threat http://www.lionslockerroom.com/authentic-devon-kennard-jersey , but he lacks the size and athleticism of his younger counterpart. With a couple new tight end options joining the team, his number of targets may not grow significantly, but Golladay should still see his productivity rise this season.Your turn.Tweets from https://twitter.com/PrideOfDetroit/lists/lions-coverage Will any other rookie contend with Hockenson for Lions Rookie of the Year?" />Skip to main contentclockmenumore-arrownoyesHorizontal - WhitePride Of Detroita Detroit Lions communityLog In or Sign UpLog InSign UpFanpostsFanshotsSectionsLibraryLionsOddsAboutMastheadCommunity GuidelinesStubHubMoreAll 322 blogs on Horizontal - WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Detroit Lions NewsDetroit Lions NotesDetroit Lions AnalysisDetroit Lions TransactionsDetroit Lions Game RecapsFiled under:NFL DraftDetroit Lions AnalysisNFL Open ThreadsSunday open thread: Which Detroit Lions draft pick will have the best rookie season?New,67commentsWill any other rookie contend with Hockenson for Lions Rookie of the Year?EDTShareTweetShareShareSunday open thread: Which Detroit Lions draft pick will have the best rookie season?Photo by Andy Lyons/Getty ImagesThey say an NFL team should expect to find starter-level talent in the first three rounds of the draft. That may not always come in the players’ first years, but the talent pool every year seems to be deep enough for that statement to generally hold true. For the Detroit Lions, that means—at the very least—they should expect the likes of tight end T.J. Hockenson, linebacker Jahlani Tavai http://www.lionslockerroom.com/authentic-calvin-johnson-jersey , and safety Will Harris to be impact players at some point during their rookie contract. But not all will have as big of an impact in the 2019 season. Every player takes the transition to the NFL differently, and some positions are tougher to adjust to at the next level. So today’s Question of the Day is:Which Lions draft pick will have the best rookie season? My answer: Honestly, I don’t think anyone should be expected to make a huge rookie impact other than Hockenson. As a top-10 pick, Hockenson’s impact should be immediate and huge, even though tight ends can sometimes struggle to adjust. Hockenson has had enough experience in a pro-style offense at Iowa that his transition shouldn’t be too difficult. But perhaps more importantly, it’s hard to see any other rookie really having a huge impact in their rookie season. Tavai and Harris aren’t likely to be Week 1 starters given Detroit’s current depth at each position, and while they almost certainly will eventually take over a significant role on defense Frank Ragnow Jersey White , I wouldn’t be surprised if that didn’t happen until at least October or November, if that early. So when it comes to 2019 contributions, expect the story of the rookie class to be squarely on Hockenson’s shoulders.Your turn.Tweets from https://twitter.com/PrideOfDetroit/lists/lions-coverage
