The Lions didn’t make any veteran acquisitions at defensive end this offseason Marquette King Jersey , but they will have one experienced player they didn’t have last season.
Kerry Hyder tore his Achilles in the team’s preseason opener, robbing him of the chance of following up on his eight-sack 2016 season and leaving the Lions without someone who profiled as a key part of their pass rush. Hyder is well on his way back to the field for the 2018 season.
Hyder was a full participant in OTAs and minicamp and said that his approach all along has been to focus on what’s in front of him rather than what happened in the past.
“I haven’t given [last year] too much thought,” Hyder said Adolphus Washington Jersey , via the team’s website. 鈥淪ince the day it happened it was about the future and getting better. Chopping wood and getting better.”
A return to the form he showed in 2016 would be a welcome boost to the Lions defensive front.
Washington running back Chris Thompson will practice with his teammates when the team begins training camp, he told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Monday.
“I’m feeling pretty good right now,” Thompson said. “I will start practicing with the guys from day one but just taking it slowly. The focus is to really be ready by that first regular-season game.”
Thompson found his role as a third-down back before fracturing his fibula Aaron Lynch Jersey , catching 39 passes for 510 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games. The addition of Derrius Guice in the draft is not expected to change anything for Thompson.
Thompson, a fifth-round pick in 2013, played little his first two seasons. But he’s played 39 games the past three seasons Leonard Floyd Jersey , with 123 catches and 167 rushing attempts.
