EDMONTON - The Edmonton Oilers seem to be getting it together under interim coach Todd Nelson. Troy Fumagalli Jersey . Derek Roy had a goal and two assists as the Oilers came away with a 5-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday.Benoit Pouliot, Jeff Petry, Nail Yakupov and Taylor Hall also scored for the Oilers (10-23-9) who have gone 3-1-2 under Nelson since he took over sole coaching responsibilities when G.M. Craig MacTavish moved back upstairs after joining Nelson for five games in the wake of the firing of Dallas Eakins. The Oilers had lost 20 of their previous 21 games before showing some recent signs of life. Its fun to win, Hall said. It does make you forget about what place you are in the standings for a couple of days. We need that, we need to be a relaxed group. For us, winning helps out a lot with that. Were starting to gel a lot as a team. When we get down, we come together, we dont try to do too much individually, were starting to play like that and its helping out a lot. Its a nice little stretch for us. A win is a win, no matter where it is in the season. And when youre winning against a team like Chicago its even better.Thats how we have to play every game, added Yakupov. That was really a team game tonight. It was really exciting. We started to play the right way.The Oilers twice scored quickly after allowing a goal, something Nelson said was a good sign that there is still some fight in the squad. It was a great sign that we could bounce back right away, he said. Thats good to see, hopefully that continues and we keep on maturing in that direction. Once they scored, our guys stuck with it and got rewarded.Brandon Saad had both goals for the Blackhawks (27-13-2), who have lost two of their past three games. They played a good game, but we had all the chances we needed to win this game tonight, said Blackhawks goalie Antti Raanta. Ive played better games myself. The game winning-goal, the third one, if you let that kind of bad rebound right to a guys stick, you have to recover and make the save. You cant let in that kind of goal. We lost the game almost because of me, so it is a bad feeling. The Blackhawks were coming off a tough trip after playing the Wild in Minnesota on Thursday night, but Saad said they cant use that as an excuse. Its tough, but there are no excuses, he said. It is part of the NHL and the schedule. We cant blame it on that. We got outworked tonight. It was a big game for us and a tough loss. Were not happy with our last two performances. The Blackhawks started the scoring seven-and-a-half minutes into the first period as Oilers goalie Ben Scrivens was able to make an initial stop on Chicago forward Jonathan Toews, but the Edmonton defence let Saad skate in unmarked to deposit the rebound into the net for his 11th goal of the season.Edmonton got that goal back just over a minute later as Pouliot tucked a puck past Raanta during a scramble in front of the Blackhawks net.The Oilers went up 2-1 on the power play with six-and-a-half minutes left to play in the opening frame. Teddy Purcell fed a puck in front of the Chicago net and Roy came racing in to deflect it past Raanta.Chicago tied the game six minutes into the second period as Oilers defender Nikita Nikitin blew a tire, allowing a two-on-one. Marian Hossa elected to shoot on the play and the rebound came directly to Saad, who scored his second goal of the game.Edmonton came flying back to regain the lead only 46 seconds later as Petry joined the rush and slipped the rebound from a Yakupov shot through Raantas legs to make it 3-2.Scrivens kept his team in the lead with five minutes left in the second period as he made a huge stop on Andrew Shaw on the doorstep. The Oilers were able to clamp down on defence and limit the Blackhawks chances in the third until Yakupov was able to put the game away, coming in with Hall on a two-on-none opportunity and electing to shoot himself, beating Raanta on the backhand with three minutes remaining. It was Yakupovs first goal in 15 games.Hall added an empty-netter shortly afterwards.Scrivens recorded 19 saves in the win. Both teams return to the ice on Sunday as the Blackhawks return to Chicago to face the Wild and the Oilers finish off a four-game homestand against the Florida Panthers.Notes: It was the second of three games between the Oilers and Hawks this season. Chicago dominated the first contest with a 7-1 win in Edmonton in November. The Blackhawks entered the game having won five in a row over Edmonton, dating to the 2012-13 season… Chicago backup goalie Antti Raanta got the nod in net after watching Corey Crawford make the previous seven starts for the team… There were some obvious statistical differences between the two teams entering the game, the most glaring being goal differential. The Blackhawks were +35 in goal differential (123-88), while Edmonton was -47 (89-136)… Remaining out with injuries for Chicago were Trevor Van Riemsdyk (patella fracture) and Kris Versteeg (upper body), while Edmonton was without the services of Tyler Pitlick (lacerated spleen)… Derek Roy became just the fifth Oiler to have a three-point game this season. Chicagos Patrick Kane has had six three-point games this year. Peyton Manning Jersey . By then it was clear: The 76ers were going to win for the first time in two months, and they were going to do it with ease. The 76ers snapped their NBA record-tying, 26-game losing streak, routing the Detroit Pistons 123-98 on Saturday night to avoid establishing the longest skid in U. Broncos Jerseys From China . SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Shaquille ONeal spent the first part of the century smashing Sacramentos dreams of an NBA championship. Now he wants to spend the next part doing anything he can to build the Kings into a winner. Declaring the new name of the city "Shaqramento," ONeal began by taking steps in his size 22 shoes Tuesday to make amends to Kings fans for his past verbal swipes. The new minority owner of the Kings said he just wanted to rile up people and market the game when he called the franchise the "Sacramento Queens" while winning three titles with the Los Angeles Lakers. "I apologize," ONeal said. "If you see me around town, come give me a hug, give me a kiss. Ill do whatever you want." The 15-time All-Star centre promised to use the same brand that bullied Sacramento for years to bring positive attention to Californias capital city. ONeals larger-than-life personality did just that on his first day on the job. He attracted a crowd of about 75 reporters, with TV trucks fighting for the closest parking space outside Sacramentos suburban practice facility and about a dozen fans trying to sneak into the parking lot. ONeal said has no intention of being a silent investor. He wants to be a mentor to volatile centre DeMarcus Cousins, give his input on basketball decisions and help the team build the NBAs first "indoor-outdoor arena." ONeal said he learned decades ago from Hall of Famer and friend Magic Johnson that endorsements "are good, but you want to own stuff." He declined to reveal his stake in the team but said joining an NBA ownership group "was always one of my dreams and aspirations," especially after retiring in 2011 after a 19-year playing career. New Kings majority owner Vivek Ranadive said he first approached ONeal about joining his group after he swayed the league to keep the Kings from moving to Seattle and bought the team from the Maloof family in May. Ranadives primary partner, 24 Hour Fitness founder Mark Mastrov, is friends with ONeal. The two partnered in the past to build about 20 gyms, especially in South Florida during ONeals time with the Miami Heat. ONeal said he moved from Los Angeles and couldnt find a place to work out at all hours and found Mastrov by searching his name on Google. "Make no mistake: Shaq is a shrewd businessman," Mastrov said. Ranadive said the deal came togethher a few weeks ago while "shooting hoops" at his Silicon Valley home with ONeal and Mastrov. Discount Broncos Jerseys. "Hes one of the most recognizable people on the planet," Ranadive said, "and we are trying to build the Kings into an even bigger global brand." Ranadive revealed another one of those plans Tuesday. He said the teams season opener Oct. 30 against Denver will likely be broadcast in his native India. ONeal is the latest high-profile former player to join the Kings this summer after the franchise nearly moved to Seattle. Hall of Famer Chris Mullin was hired as a consultant to Ranadive and Mitch Richmond is part of the ownership group. But no member is a bigger surprise than ONeal. During the height of his career with the Lakers, ONeal fueled the rivalry with the Kings with his play on the court and his personality off of it. He handed Sacramento its biggest blow by rallying the Lakers from a 3-2 deficit to win the 2002 Western Conference finals -- which is still a sore spot for Kings fans -- and never missed a chance to poke fun at the franchise. "I wanted you to be very upset when you came to Arco Arena," ONeal said, speaking to fans through reporters. "In my mind, if you could survive something like this, then you could win anywhere. You guys had us nervous all the way up until that Game 7." Besides the opportunity to partner with friends, ONeal said he wanted to work with one of the NBAs best young centres -- and also one of its most troubled. ONeal said hes already initiated conversations with Cousins, who has been suspended several times by the NBA and the Kings for his behaviour. He said he wants to help Cousins the way Phil Jackson helped ONeal co-exist with others when he came to coach the Lakers. "When I look at a young DeMarcus Cousins, I see a young Shaquille ONeal. Very talented, very stubborn in his ways. Wants to do things his way," ONeal said. Cousins, who is entering his fourth year in the NBA, is eligible for a contract extension before Oct. 31 or he would become a restricted free agent next summer. Kings general manager Pete DAlessandro said contract negotiations are progressing but offered no further details. ONeal declined to discuss what he thinks Cousins will do but said the centre has been receptive to his help. "The conversations," he said, "have already started."
