When the Jets drafted Sam Darnold with the third overall choice Philipp Grubauer Jersey , it was presumed that Teddy Bridgewater was the odd man out. It seemed almost certain veteran Josh McCown would provide the bridge to Darnold when the rookie from USC was ready.
But Bridgewater apparently has other plans.
According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Bridgewater created “a legitimate buzz” during organized team activities last week. Bridgewater could end up starting for the Jets Nikolaj Ehlers Jersey , but the quarterback’s trade value also is “trending upward.”
The Jets could look to get something for Bridgewater in a deal before the season starts.
Bridgewater still has to show his surgically repaired knee can stand up to game action. He played only nine snaps last season with the Vikings after missing all of the 2016 season.
The only thing certain at quarterback for the Jets is they have better options than a year ago.
This time last year, the team was hoping Christian Hackenberg or Bryce Petty could beat out McCown for the job. Instead L. P. Ladouceur Jersey , Hackenberg and Petty played their way out of town.
The Los Angeles Lakers have extended a $5.6 million qualifying offer to forward Julius Randle, making him a restricted free agent.
The Lakers made the move Wednesday Youth Alejandro Villanueva Jersey , ensuring they can match any offer sheet from another team signed by Randle starting on July 8.
The 23-year-old Randle is coming off his best season with the Lakers, who chose him with the seventh overall pick in 2014. He averaged a career-high 16.1 points with 8.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists while playing in all 82 games.
But the Lakers hope to be a major player in free agency next month Mike Reilly Jersey , so it’s unclear whether they will retain Randle. They might need to renounce Randle’s rights or otherwise move him to clear salary cap space for two superstars.
