TORONTO -- General manager Tim Bezbatchenko has laid out his vision for Toronto FC, with an emphasis on analytics and science off the pitch and developing depth and young talent on it. Derrick Kindred Jersey . In a speech Sunday at a barbecue for season ticket-holders at the clubs training centre, Bezbatchenko said the MLS clubs transformation is an ongoing process. But he also suggested that improvements were sorely needed. He said the team, currently seventh in the Eastern Conference with a 9-11-7 record, had drafted poorly in the past and overtrained this season, leading to injuries. The decision to fire manager Ryan Nelsen on Aug. 31 was because the club has vision and values "and we hold people accountable to them," he said. "For whatever reason, the team had stopped playing," he said. "Sometimes you have to make difficult decisions, you have to make bold decisions ... We couldnt wait any longer." The 32-year-old GM said the club has created a department of cognitive science, to help young players "speed of processing" on the pitch among other things. The franchise has also made its scouting department independent of coaches. "That has never happened here before," he said. He said that will help create a regular database and ensure that information or contacts arent lost when a coach leaves. The club is also committed to analytics, he said, with databases set up over the last year. "Now were looking to apply it in the area of cap management, the area of scouting and sports science and nutrition," he said. "Making sure that our players are not susceptible to injury because of overtraining as youve seen this year." Bezbatchenko said he expected the salary cap to rise US$1 million to $4 million after the next collective bargain agreement, allowing for more player investment. And ay money from players sales will be reinvested, he said. There have been question-marks over the future of star striker Jermain Defoe in recent weeks with the club turning down a franchise-record offer at the closing of the last transfer window. "If we end up selling a player no matter who it is, that money will be invested back into the team for either designated players or a facility or something that will improve the team," Bezbatchenko said. "Thats my commitment to you." The GM pointed to youth development as one of the pillars for the club, saying it is needed to develop a solid core of players. "Its having the talent that can withstand injuries," he said. Toronto players have missed more a combined 80-plus games through injury this season. Bezbatchenko said the club wants to double the number of players that have graduated from its academy over the next three years and double the number of players on the roster that were drafted by the club. Currently the club only has three players it has drafted on it roster from its eight-year history: Daniel Lovitz, Nick Hagglund and Kyle Bekker. "Frankly that is unacceptable," said Bezbatchenko. Bezbatchenko also said the club is committed to improving the BMO Field experience, with stadium renovations including high-end premium areas. The club is looking to add a feeder team in the USL Pro league, he said. Duke Johnson Jr Jersey . Patrick Sharp scored twice and Patrick Kane, Bryan Bickell and Nick Leddy also connected to lead Chicago to a 5-2 win over the Devils on Monday night. JC Tretter Jersey . Perez, 35, posted a 1-2 record with a 3.69 earned-run average in 19 relief appearances last season. His season ended Aug. 9 due to a torn ligament in his left elbow. Perez joins infielder Andy LaRoche and catcher Mike Nickeas with minor-league agreements for 2014 that include invitations to attend spring training. http://www.cheapbrownsjerseyssale.com/ . "It was a little weird looking over and seeing all the green uniforms," he said of his first game against the Boston Celtics. TEMPE, Ariz. -- Jonathan Coopers rookie season might not be over after all. Arizona coach Bruce Arians said Monday that the Cardinals first-round draft pick could be back for the final six games of the season after undergoing surgery on his broken left leg. The seventh overall pick in the draft was injured in Saturday nights 24-7 preseason loss to the San Diego Chargers. Arians said Daryn Colledge will move back to Coopers left guard spot, with Paul Fanaika taking the right guard position. Colledge played on the left side his entire seven-year NFL career but was moved to right guard after Arizona drafted Cooper. Chilo Rachal also is in the mix at right guard. Six other Arizona players were hurt in the game, the most significant being tight end Rob Housler with a high left ankle sprain. Running back Rashard Mendenhall has a sprained right knee but is expected to be ready for the season opener Sept. 8 at St. Louis. Neither Housler nor Mendenhall will play in Thursday nights preseason finale at Denver, Arians said. Cooper underwent surgery Sunday. Arians said the prognosis is for Cooper to be sidelined 10 to 12 weeks. At 12 weeks, he could return for the Nov. 24 home game against Indianapolis. At the very least, Cooper would get some experience. "We dont want him to be a rookie next year," Arians said. "That was the big thing for losing him the whole season is hes a rookie again next year. Hopefully now that wont be the case." Still, its a significant loss for the Cardinals, who saw Cooper as an anchor on a re-tooled offensive line that will be so important in protecting quarterback Carson Palmer, as well as resuscitating the dormant Arizona running game. Cooper, Arians said, was giving the Cardinals "all the value you put in that pick." "The athleticism, the strength, the toughness," Arians said. "Hes got a bright future." Colledge doesnnt have Coopers exceptional athleticism "but hes more than adequate," the coach said. Genard Avery Jersey. Colledge said it shouldnt be a problem moving back to the left side, where hes accustomed to playing. "It should be an easy transition for me," he said. "I expect to fit right back in there and get it done. But Im going to keep working on the right side in case the situation goes the other direction, too. I need to be prepared to play either side of the ball." Fanaika has been one of the bigger surprises for the Cardinals. The former Arizona State lineman played in three games for Seattle in 2011 but was out of football last season. He was moved from tackle back to the guard position he played in college and impressed the Cardinals coaches when he filled in while Colledge was out with a hairline leg fracture for two weeks in training camp. "Pauls played extremely well at camp, had a bunch of snaps," Arians said. "Were confident hes a solid player." Fanaika said he wasnt sure hed get another chance in the NFL. "But I kept my faith and believed in myself and knew that I still had a lot of good football left in me," he said. High ankle sprains can keep a player out several weeks, and Housler was unsure what that meant for his chances of being ready for the season opener. "I think Ill have a better grasp for it when the swelling goes down," he said. "Right now Im just waiting to see how it all pans out the next few days." Nose tackle Dan Williams aggravated the right ankle he sprained earlier in camp but Arians believed he would be fine. Wide receiver Andre Roberts (quadriceps) and outside linebacker/defensive end Matt Shaughnessy (ankle) are fine, Arians said. Rookie tight end D.C. Jefferson has a mild knee sprain but hopes to play Thursday. "Its a big game for a lot of the younger guys," Arians said.
