" DOHA Puma Fenty Creepers Biele , Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Smaller countries have been encouraged to host smaller sports events by sports ministers and representatives of sports bodies from over 20 countries and regions at the Doha Goals on Monday.
A statement was published after the Ministers of Summit at the Doha Goals, the world's leading platform focusing on sport as a driver of social and economic change, also calling public policy makers to invest more in sports facilities.
""While lower profile events may not have the same weight with international audiences, there are still numerous benefits for smaller events to be held in smaller countries where investment can be more manageable but the impact on real terms just as big,"" the statement said.
The statement said that all delegates at the summit pledged to do more to share information between nations, within the context of the G20, the G8 and other international groups, in order to fight the corruption that can blight sport.
In a discussion hosted by Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser Al Ali, Qatar's Minister of Youth and Sports, the participants considered how sport can play an important role in addressing some of the most important economic, social and political challenges facing the world today, including youth unemployment, corruption and poor health.
Al Ali said: ""Today was an important step towards better and stronger collaboration between Ministers of Sport so that we can build a case for sport to be given higher priority at a policy level.""
Richard Attias, Executive Producer of Doha Goals, said: ""This is not about lobbying for more money to host events. This is about recognising that sport has an impact on education, on health, on social integration and on the economy. We look forward to building on this first summit over the next 12 months and reconvening in Doha next year.""

JUBA, May 23 (Xinhua) -- South Sudanese Dinka and Murle pastoral communities late Tuesday signed peace agreement in Juba to end more than three months of fighting that had threatened to worsen insecurity in the restive Jonglei and Boma states.
This came after the escalation in fighting dragged in senior army officers from the South Sudan army (SPLA) helping to arm the Dinka community to fight against Murle in Pibor area over cattle raiding and child abduction that left the UN and officials wary of the deteriorating security situation.
The violence that killed hundreds of people on both sides amid worsening food insecurity due to blocking of the Juba-Bor-Pibor road drew the attention of President Salva Kiir, who delegated vice president Taban Deng Gai to help reconcile the two warring parties.
"We shall implement this agreement on cessation of hostilities and we are going to launch an investigation so that we know who participated in this crisis between the two youth," Deng said in Juba.
He said there was ongoing investigation into several army officers involved in fueling the violence, and that the insecurity in the area threatened to exacerbate ethnic violence in the region.
The UN mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) head David Shearer said increased violence have brought untold suffering on the population and that the humanitarian situation was now dire as thousands need food assistance.
The vice president said that within 30 days from signing of the peace deal there will be a general peace conference to bring the various communities in the region to discuss outstanding differences and review of progress.
